The Confederation of Paper Industries (CPI) has announced the appointment of Alex Veitch as its next Chief Executive, effective 26 August 2025.

Veitch will succeed Andrew Large, who is stepping down after nine years at the helm.

Veitch joins CPI after serving as Director of Policy and Insights at the British Chambers of Commerce. His career spans over 25 years in strategic leadership and policy development across both public and private sectors, including key roles at Logistics UK, HMRC, the Rail Delivery Group, and the Energy Saving Trust.

In a statement, CPI President Kevin Bussey praised Veitch’s understanding of UK industry and commitment to building a sustainable future. “He impressed the Board with his ability to influence policy and his strong member-focused approach. We are confident he will guide CPI into its next phase of development,” said Bussey.

Veitch expressed enthusiasm about joining CPI: “This sector brings together so many of the things I care about—championing UK manufacturing, building a sustainable economy, and providing skilled jobs for the future. I’m genuinely excited to lead the CPI team.”

The CPI Board also acknowledged the contributions of outgoing Director General Andrew Large, who navigated the organization through major challenges including Brexit, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the recent energy crisis.

CPI represents the UK’s paper-based industries, an economic sector generating £15 billion annually and supporting over 100,000 jobs both directly and indirectly.
