Amid a challenging pulp market, Ence is accelerating its transformation into a specialty pulp producer and renewable energy leader, reinforcing both its competitiveness and sustainability strategy.

By 2028, specialty pulps — including fluff pulp for absorbent hygiene products — are forecast to account for over 60 percent of the company’s total sales volume.

The commissioning of a 125,000-tonne fluff pulp line at Navia positions Ence as Europe’s only producer of short-fiber-based fluff pulp, offering lower costs and carbon impacts compared to long-fiber imports from the U.S.

Parallel to its product innovation, Ence is developing the Iberian Peninsula’s largest diversified biomass-based renewable energy platform, supplying renewable industrial heat, biomethane, and renewable fuels. Construction is underway on new thermal facilities designed to provide renewable industrial heat, while additional biomethane and biofuel projects expand the company’s energy footprint.

From 2025 to 2027, Ence will implement an Efficiency and Competitiveness Plan focused on artificial intelligence, automation, and process reengineering, with expected annual cash savings of €22 per ton of pulp.

Ongoing investments across its mills include modernizing wood yards and replacing fossil fuels with biomass, initiatives expected to deliver significant CO₂ reductions and operating cost savings.

Ence Energía y Celulosa, a Spanish industrial leader, specializes in sustainable pulp production and biomass-based renewable energy. Guided by circular-economy principles, the company develops specialty pulp lines and advanced renewable projects that support its long-term vision of sustainable industrial growth.
