International News

Groupe Guillin has expanded its European packaging footprint with the acquisition of two Belgian companies, Gruyaert Verpakking SRL and Verpakkingen V de V SA, further strengthening its position in customized paperboard food packaging.

The transaction was completed by Alterecopack, Groupe Guillin’s French subsidiary, and brings together two family-owned Belgian businesses with complementary profiles. Gruyaert Verpakking is the Belgian market leader in the production of customized cardboard pastry boxes, while Verpakkingen V de V distributes Gruyaert’s products in Belgium alongside a broader range of complementary packaging solutions.

In 2024, the two companies generated combined revenues of €19 million and employ approximately 40 people. Their integration supports Groupe Guillin’s strategy of broadening its product offering to address a wider range of customer needs across food packaging markets.

“This acquisition strengthens the expertise of our WEFOLD paperboard sites and reinforces our presence in printed and customized cardboard packaging,” said Sophie Guillin, Chief Executive Officer of Groupe Guillin. She highlighted the strong manufacturing know-how, rigorous processes and shared values that underpin the transaction.

Founded as family businesses, Gruyaert and V de V bring long-standing craftsmanship and a focus on product quality that align closely with Groupe Guillin’s industrial and commercial approach. According to the group, the acquisition will allow for closer collaboration between teams and the pooling of recognized expertise to better serve customers seeking high-quality, customizable packaging solutions manufactured in Europe.

Frank Van de Vloet, representing the selling shareholders, described the transaction as the start of a new chapter for both companies. He emphasized the shared commitment to quality, customization, European manufacturing and reliable logistics as key drivers behind the decision to join Groupe Guillin.

Founded in 1972, Groupe Guillin is a French family-owned company and a leading European supplier of food packaging solutions. Active in more than 70 countries, the group serves customers across food retail, foodservice, fresh produce and food processing markets.
