The Saica Group has strengthened its recovery network in Spain with the acquisition of part of FCC Ámbito’s business dedicated to the recovery of paper and cardboard, as well as other non-hazardous industrial and commercial residues.
The transaction was completed through Saica Natur, the Group’s waste management and environmental services division.
The operation extends Saica’s presence into strategic regions including Madrid and the northern and western areas of the Iberian Peninsula. The acquired activities cover seven facilities located in Madrid, Cáceres, Valladolid, Asturias, Biscay (Vizcaya), León and Toledo. These sites employ more than 150 people and generated approximately €33 million in revenue in 2024.
“This is a strategic step that consolidates our presence in Iberia,” said Susana Alejandro, President and CEO of the Saica Group. “We are delighted to welcome the FCC Ámbito team, whose recognized expertise strengthens our value proposition for customers across the Iberian market.”
For his part, Íñigo Sanz, CEO of FCC enviro, said the transaction “is fully aligned with our policy of asset rotation and optimization to maximize shareholder value and support our development strategy.”
Following the acquisition, Saica Natur now operates 47 facilities, including 36 in Spain, with the remainder located in France, Portugal, the United Kingdom and Poland. The business unit’s workforce has grown to more than 1,700 employees.
