Zeus Packaging has introduced Carbon IQ, its first customer-facing digital platform aimed at helping businesses track and reduce the environmental impact of their packaging.
Launched under the company’s Zeus Sustain initiative, Carbon IQ enables users to estimate impacts such as carbon footprint, eco-cost, and energy demand using a simplified life cycle assessment approach. The tool also allows businesses to compare packaging alternatives, evaluate economic trade-offs, and gain insight into Scope 3 emissions across the value chain.
Developed with sustainability software firm Nutritics, Carbon IQ draws on recognized data sources such as IDEMAT and is updated annually. The platform assigns A–E ratings for carbon, eco-cost, and energy demand to support comparison of packaging options.
“Carbon IQ gives our teams and our customers greater visibility into packaging performance,” said Declan Breen, Head of Sustainability at Zeus Packaging. “It supports more informed, measurable choices by bringing environmental data directly into packaging conversations.”
Keith Ockenden, CEO of Zeus Packaging, added that the platform helps customers address new regulatory pressures, such as extended producer responsibility (EPR), while balancing environmental and economic considerations.
Carbon IQ is now in use across Zeus operations in the UK, Ireland, and continental Europe, serving both internal teams and external customers. It complements the company’s existing sustainability services and represents the next step in providing actionable insights and measurable progress toward lower packaging emissions.
Zeus Packaging is one of Europe’s largest independent packaging companies, headquartered in Ireland. The company provides a wide range of sustainable packaging solutions across multiple sectors, combining innovation, quality, and customer service to support businesses worldwide.
