Essity has been included on CDP’s 2025 A List for forests and received an A- rating for climate, reflecting the company’s performance in environmental transparency and sustainability management.
The annual CDP assessment evaluated more than 22,000 companies from 130 countries, representing roughly two-thirds of global market capitalization. Companies are rated from A to D based on governance, targets, emissions and impact reduction efforts, and engagement across the value chain. Essity was among approximately 4% of participants to achieve A List status in 2025.
The forests rating recognizes Essity’s approach to responsible fibre sourcing and forest management. As a major buyer of fresh and recycled wood-based fibre, the company reports that all wood fibre used in its products is certified and sourced through third-party Chain of Custody systems, including FSC and PEFC.
In climate performance, Essity’s A- score reflects progress toward its long-term emissions objectives. The company has set a net-zero target for 2050 and aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across its entire value chain by 35% by 2030. This includes emissions from its own operations, purchased goods and services, transportation, product use and production waste.
Essity says it prioritizes actions in areas with the greatest environmental impact and works with suppliers and partners to support emissions reductions beyond its direct operations. The company has participated in the Science Based Targets initiative since 2017.
CDP operates the world’s largest environmental disclosure database, and its annual scoring process is widely used by investors, customers and other stakeholders as a benchmark for corporate environmental performance.
Essity is a global hygiene and health company developing products and solutions used daily by more than one billion people worldwide. The company operates in around 150 countries, with a portfolio that includes brands such as TENA and Tork. Essity is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, and is listed on Nasdaq Stockholm.
