Ahlstrom has reported record-high profitability for the third quarter of 2025, marking another period of strong performance and strategic execution.
According to President and CEO Helen Mets, the company achieved its highest-ever EBITDA and EBITDA margin, supported by recent acquisitions and disciplined cost management.
“We delivered record-high profitability in absolute EBITDA and EBITDA margin, clearly reflecting our efforts in building a high-performing specialty business portfolio,” Mets said.
Sales grew by 4% at constant currency rates despite softer market demand, while Ahlstrom maintained a solid variable cost margin driven by its sustainable operating system. The company reported an EBITDA margin of 18.8%, underscoring its ability to sustain pricing discipline and cost control.
During the quarter, Ahlstrom continued to streamline its portfolio. The company completed the sale of its Abrasives business and finalized the acquisition of U.S.-based EBF, enhancing its position in the laboratory and life sciences markets. Earlier, Ahlstrom had also acquired Stevens Point, strengthening its specialty materials capabilities under the newly established Performance Materials Cluster.
In line with its “Safe and Sustainable by Design” strategy, Ahlstrom introduced several innovations, including GreenPod Home, a TÜV Austria–certified biodegradable coffee pod material designed to decompose in domestic conditions without leaving harmful residues.
The company also announced the commissioning of a biomass boiler at its Rottersac site in France, which will cut site emissions by approximately 80%. These initiatives further reinforce Ahlstrom’s leadership in sustainability, recognized by top industry ratings such as an A score in the 2024 CDP Supplier Engagement Assessment, an A– in the CDP Climate Disclosure, and a Platinum medal from EcoVadis.
“Ahlstrom maintains its focus on serving customers with innovative solutions and supporting the sustainability transition of the industries we serve,” Mets said.
Ahlstrom is a global leader in combining fibers into sustainable specialty materials. With operations spanning filtration, life sciences, food and consumer packaging, and protective materials, the company employs approximately 7,000 people and generated €3.0 billion in net sales in 2024.
