Domtar marked the first anniversary of its unification under the single brand “Domtar – The Fiber for the Future,” reflecting a year of strategic growth, environmental stewardship, and strengthened partnerships across North America.
In its statement, the company emphasized the progress made since integrating the former Paper Excellence, Domtar Corporation and Resolute Forest Products businesses under one brand. John Williams, Non-Executive Chairman of Domtar’s Management Board, commended the teams’ efforts over the past year, calling it “an important moment to recognize the milestones that define our first year as one company.”
Partnerships and Land Stewardship
One of the year’s most significant milestones was the agreement with the Tla’amin Nation in Powell River, British Columbia, enabling the Nation to reacquire part of its ancestral lands at the former tiskwat paper mill site. Once a major village site for the Tla’amin people, the area holds deep cultural and historical significance. The agreement, years in the making, underscores Domtar’s commitment to reconciliation and collaboration with Indigenous communities.
Investments and Modernization
Domtar advanced its infrastructure renewal with the modernization of the 113-year-old Rothschild Dam on Lake Wausau, Wisconsin. The project aims to enhance flood control, public safety, and local economic development while supporting recreational opportunities in the region.
The company also made a landmark land donation to the Nature Conservancy of Canada, contributing more than 1,800 hectares of boreal forest, wetlands and freshwater shorelines in Newfoundland and Labrador — the largest land donation in the organization’s 54-year history.
Sustainability and Growth
In October 2025, Domtar published Building on Strong Legacies, its first unified sustainability report, which consolidates performance across environmental, social and governance indicators and outlines its 2030 sustainability strategy.
Operationally, Domtar expanded its thermal paper conversion capacity, strengthening its North American supply chain for point-of-sale receipt rolls serving retail, food service, pharmacy and financial sectors.
Recognition and Policy Integration
Domtar received multiple honors during the year, including the AF&PA Leadership in Sustainability Award for Water Management, recognition by Corporate Knights among the 25 most sustainable private companies, and awards from the National Recycling Coalition and Crayola for corporate leadership and renewable energy initiatives.
The company also aligned its corporate policies on environment, sustainability and Indigenous relations, reinforcing its shared values and guiding principles across all divisions.
With nearly 14,000 employees across more than 60 sites in North America, Domtar continues to position itself as a leading diversified forest products manufacturer dedicated to sustainable growth, innovation and fiber-based solutions for global markets.
