Stora Enso has taken a significant step forward in strengthening Europe’s sustainable materials supply chain with the inauguration of its new fluff pulp packing line at the Skutskär Mill.
The €42 million investment was officially launched yesterday, marking a major milestone for the company and the industry.
The new state-of-the-art facility processes Nordic spruce and pine into high-quality fluff pulp, a vital component in baby diapers, feminine hygiene products, and medical applications used by millions every day.
The upgrade is designed to deliver improvements in three critical areas: enhanced product quality, improved workplace safety, and increased delivery flexibility for customers across Europe.
Stora Enso’s Skutskär Mill, produces around 545,000 tonnes of pulp annually with 420 employees. Specializing in fluff pulp for hygiene products as well as pulp for specialty papers and liquid packaging board, the mill operates entirely on biofuels and is progressing toward carbon-neutral production. Continuous upgrades aim to improve efficiency, cut water use, and reduce its carbon footprint, reinforcing its role as a key supplier of sustainable materials in Europe.
