Kruger Inc. has released its 2024 Sustainability Report, titled Sustainability in Focus, outlining the company’s continued efforts to align environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and economic growth under a unifying vision of sustainable prosperity.
The Montréal-based company emphasizes that sustainability has long been embedded in its business practices, but this year’s report signals a broadened commitment. According to Eric Ashby, Executive Vice President and COO, this approach now explicitly seeks to balance environmental health, social equity, and financial performance to create long-term value for all stakeholders.
“Sustainable prosperity requires us to act on all fronts,” Ashby stated. “From climate action and resource protection to employee wellbeing and strong community partnerships, this report reflects our progress and recognizes the work still to come.”
Key accomplishments from 2024 include:
- Advancing the Circular Economy:
Kruger Recycling diverted over 972,000 metric tonnes of materials from landfills in 2024. Recovered fiber was reused in Kruger’s manufacturing processes, and other collected materials contributed to energy production. - Reducing Carbon Emissions:
Since 2018, the company has launched 44 climate-related projects, collectively reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 76,000 tonnes. Recent energy efficiency initiatives across operations have further supported emissions reduction. - Expanding Renewable Energy Capacity:
Kruger Energy, founded in 2004, operates 47 renewable energy plants across North America. With two new wind farms underway in Québec, total installed capacity is expected to grow from 650 MW to 993 MW by 2028. - Supporting Employees and Communities:
In addition to prioritizing health, safety, and career development, Kruger maintained its longstanding support for community initiatives and Indigenous partnerships. These efforts range from educational programs to direct involvement in energy and infrastructure projects.
As a leader in North American recycling and renewable energy, Kruger continues to invest in green innovation and sustainable development, both through its operational practices and broader community engagement.
