Georgia-Pacific has launched a new initiative aimed at preserving institutional knowledge and supporting operational continuity across its U.S. sites.
The Retiree Talent Network Program, managed by the company’s internal staffing agency Encadria, re-engages retired employees for short-term assignments and special projects.
As workforce dynamics shift and experienced talent exits the industry, Georgia-Pacific sees its retiree program as a strategic way to mitigate disruptions. The initiative enables former employees to return in flexible roles where their expertise can fill critical gaps, reduce the burden on current staff, and provide mentorship opportunities for newer team members.
“Retirees bring a wealth of experience and operational insight,” said Georgia-Pacific. “By reintegrating them into specific assignments, we’re maintaining productivity while transferring knowledge to the next generation.”
The program also helps limit overtime demands on full-time employees by supplying experienced support during peak needs or transitions. Assignments vary based on location and business requirements and are tailored to individual retiree skillsets.
