Paper Advancement

Amcor has launched its AmFiber™ Performance Paper stand-up pouch, a recycle-ready paper refill pack designed for instant coffee and dry beverages, targeting the European, Middle East, and African markets.

This innovation, part of Amcor’s AmFiber™ Performance Paper portfolio, addresses the need for sustainable packaging in the dry beverage sector. The pouch, with 85% fiber content, offers excellent seal integrity and barrier properties crucial for preserving aroma and taste. It's certified for recyclability by CEPI and Aticelca, facilitating curbside recycling in many European countries.

Amcor highlights significant sustainability benefits, claiming up to a 73% reduction in carbon footprint, a 71% decrease in non-renewable energy use, and a 41% drop in water consumption compared to non-paper alternatives. These improvements align with rising consumer demand for eco-friendly packaging.

The AmFiber™ pouch also promises cost savings for brands through reduced Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) fees, potentially cutting costs by 70-90% compared to non-recyclable options, depending on the country.

Consumer research indicates that 89% of shoppers prioritize recyclability in refill packs, driving Amcor’s focus on creating recyclable solutions. The pouch's design includes a robust bottom gusset for optimal retail presentation and functionality, ensuring compatibility with existing packing machinery.

Giorgio Dini, Marketing Manager for Coffee at Amcor, stated, "This newest addition to the AmFiber™ family offers coffee and dry beverage brands a more attractive packaging solution that has a natural, paper-based appeal and is recycle-ready."

Amcor, a global packaging leader, continues to innovate in sustainable packaging, aiming to meet the evolving demands of both brands and consumers. With 41,000 employees and operations in 40 countries, the company generated $13.6 billion in sales in fiscal year 2024.
