We are delighted to announce that Monika Patel, Director of Communications and Marketing for FSC Canada, has been selected as a distinguished judge for the Samsung ‘Solve for Tomorrow’ Contest.

The competition, designed to inspire Canadian classrooms in grades 6 through 12, encourages students to innovate and propose sustainable solutions for a brighter future.

This year's contest, which open for submission until February 15th, 2024, calls for innovative sustainability solutions from classrooms across the country. Finalists will receive mentorship to refine their projects, with the chance to win substantial prizes for their schools. The first-place team will be awarded a grand prize of $50,000, along with the prestigious title of "The School of Tomorrow." Second and third place finalists will each receive $10,000, while all five finalists will have the opportunity to receive a $5,000 voucher towards Samsung technology for their schools.

Monika Patel joins a distinguished lineup of judges, including Tovah Barocas, President and CEO of Earth Rangers; Phil De Luna, Chief Carbon Scientist and Head of Engineering at Deep Sky; and Naila Moloo, an accomplished teen innovator and climate solutions researcher. The diverse panel also includes representatives from Samsung Canada, demonstrating a collaborative effort to drive positive change.

This announcement is the latest efforts in a strong partnership between FSC Canada and Samsung Canada. Over the past year, FSC Canada and Samsung celebrated Earth month with a successful fundraising campaign. Throughout April 2023, Samsung Canada donated $1 to FSC Canada for every purchase made in-store and online. Furthermore, Samsung continued its support through June 2023 by donating an additional $10 to FSC Canada for each review left on Samsung's website.

This partnership reflects the shared commitment of FSC Canada and Samsung to environmental sustainability, responsible forestry, and the education of future generations. We look forward to witnessing the positive impact of the Solve for Tomorrow Contest and celebrating the innovative solutions that will shape a more sustainable world.
