FSC Canada welcomes a new board member within its social chamber, Cam Shiell from the Public and Private Workers of Canada (PPWC) - an organization that represents nearly 2500 forestry workers in British Columbia.

A returning board member, Cam is a third generation forest worker from Vancouver Island. For the past ten years he has advocated for sustainable forestry as a Forestry Officer with PPWC and then as their Environmental and Sustainability Officer, organizing and speaking at rallies and demonstrations in support of old growth forests, amongst his other responsibilities.

“As someone who is deeply committed to environmental sustainability and responsible resource management, I am particularly passionate about FSC's mission to promote responsible forest management worldwide, and in particular in Canada,” shares Shiell. “PPWC has worked with FSC for almost 15 years, and we believe that FSC plays a critical role in protecting the world's forests and ensuring that they are managed in a way that is environmentally responsible, socially beneficial, and economically viable.”

“I am excited to work alongside the other FSC board members, stakeholders, and staff to advance the organization's goals and priorities leveraging my experience in corporate governance, finance, and strategic planning, and through my deep understanding of the forest industry and issues related to responsible forest management.”
