Domtar is proud to announce that three of its colleagues, Seth Gulledge, Lance Holub, and Kurt Mehlberg, were honored at the recent TAPPICon conference in Cleveland, Ohio.

TAPPICon is the annual event hosted by the Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry, a leading association for these sectors.

This year's TAPPICon offered industry discussions, networking opportunities, and a prestigious awards ceremony. Domtar shines a light on its award-winning employees and their valuable contributions.

Seth Gulledge, paper machine optimization lead at the Marlboro Mill, was recognized as one of three recipients of the TAPPI Young Professional of the Year Award. This award celebrates young professionals who demonstrate leadership, community service excellence, and problem-solving skills that contribute to scientific or engineering advancements in the forest product industries.

Lance Holub, Kingsport Mill superintendent, received the Paper Industry Management Association (PIMA) Brookshire Moore Superintendent of the Year award. This award acknowledges Holub's high standards, strong leadership qualities, and ability to inspire those around him. With nearly 30 years of experience, including roles in shipping, operating the winder and paper machine, and leading production teams, Holub brings a wealth of knowledge to his current position.

"I've witnessed firsthand Lance's ability to collaborate with teams and significantly improve production processes," said Troy Wilson, Kingsport Mill manager. "He fosters a positive attitude with his crews and serves as a role model and mentor for the next generation of papermakers."

Kurt Mehlberg, Domtar quality solutions manager, received two distinctions: induction into the Couch Pit University and the PIMA Division Leadership & Service Award. The Couch Pit University recognizes individuals with significant contributions to the industry. The PIMA Division Leadership & Service Award acknowledges Mehlberg's exceptional leadership and service, which have demonstrably benefitted his colleagues.

Mehlberg's peers value his extensive manufacturing and operational background, gained through various roles at the Nekoosa and Rothschild mills, including serving as Nekoosa Mill general manager. This experience with Domtar's specialty, technical, and commodity products ensures the company consistently develops and delivers superior products for its customers.

"The recognition bestowed upon these three colleagues exemplifies what we firmly believe at Domtar: our people are what set us apart," said Bill Edwards, senior vice president of pulp and paper operations. "We identify and nurture remarkable talent among our early-career professionals, and we rely on our industry veterans to instill a legacy of leadership, service, and integrity across our teams. We are incredibly proud to see them honored among the 2024 TAPPI award winners."
