Boise Cascade has announced a planned leadership transition that will take effect in March 2026.

Chief Executive Officer Nate Jorgensen will retire on March 2, 2026, after six years at the helm of the company. The board of directors has appointed Chief Operating Officer Jeff Strom as his successor, effective March 3. Jorgensen will remain on the board following his retirement.

Chair of the board Tom Carlile described the change as part of a long-term succession plan designed to ensure continuity and stability. He highlighted Jorgensen’s role in guiding the company through the pandemic, navigating strong market cycles, and strengthening Boise Cascade’s strategic direction. “The positive impact of his leadership will extend far beyond his tenure,” Carlile said.

Carlile also emphasized the board’s confidence in Strom, citing his 34 years of industry experience and his track record in operational performance, customer focus, and execution. Strom has been instrumental in leveraging the company’s integrated model during his tenure as COO. Boise Cascade does not plan to backfill the COO position after the transition.

Jorgensen expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead the company and confidence in his successor. “Together, we’ve grown our business, strengthened our relationships, and positioned our Company for long-term success,” he said.

Strom, who joined Boise Cascade in 2006, has held several key leadership roles, including executive vice president of the building materials distribution division and vice president and general manager for the Eastern Region. He holds a degree in management from the Georgia Institute of Technology and serves on the board of trustees for Boise Valley Habitat for Humanity.

“I am honored and excited to serve as the next CEO of Boise Cascade,” Strom said. “Our Company’s strength lies in our people and our shared commitment to excellence.”

Boise Cascade remains one of North America’s largest producers of engineered wood products and plywood and a major U.S. distributor of building materials.
